The family of a Bronx man who killed himself after three years at Rikers Island is suing the city for $20 million.
The parents of Kalief Browder filed the claim Thursday citing physical and mental abuse at the prison, according to published reports.
Browder was imprisoned after allegedly stealing a backpack and was unable to afford bail.
Those charges were eventually dropped, but not before Browder was beaten and held in solitary confinement.
