The Bronx is celebrating 100 years of being part of New York City. To celebrate, News 12 is kicking off the weekend with a tour of some of the borough's oldest community gardens.
The tour is sponsored by the Bronx Borough President's Office. Once a month, residents can catch a ride on the Bronx Cultural Trolley for a tour of the gardens. Lunch is also included with each tour.
Taqwa Community Farm is located on West 164th Street, and is one of the stops on the tour. Highlights of its garden include honey-producing bees, eggplant and collard greens, among other agricultural goods.
One tourist says the visit further propelled her interest in urban agriculture and looks forward to seeing what knowledge she can take back home.
