Several Muslim community leaders across the borough boycotted Mayor Michael Bloomberg's annual interfaith breakfast due to allegations the NYPD is spying on law-abiding members of its community. Activists say the NYPD is watching over predominantly Muslim neighborhoods, and that the surveillance program is unwarranted and unconstitutional. Bloomberg says the claims are not only wrong, but unfair to the city's police force. "The communities, whether they're Muslim or Jewish or Christian or Hindu or Buddhist or whatever, all contribute to this city," Bloomberg says. "We don't target any one of them.
