Bronx parents and students are fighting to keep the New School for Arts and Sciences open.
The Department of Education says the school on Longwood Avenue will not accept new students for next year. The school will close its doors in 2009 after all the current students graduate. Department officials say the reason for closing the school is because it was placed on a list of failing schools.
Some parents and kids say the school is to blame for the failing students. They claim there aren?t enough textbooks, calculators or art supplies. They add there aren?t enough laboratories to perform science experiments.
