Camden County administers its 100,000th dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

Camden County hit a major vaccine milestone on Thursday by administering its 100,000th dose.
Camden County College student Adrian Segovia, 20, was the recipient of the 100,000th shot.
“This is how we can do it and we can be a part of something bigger,” he said.
Segovia, who is from Ecuador, said that he was grateful to get the vaccine. He was one of the first in his family to get inoculated.
“In my country, we have a lot of problems with the vaccine,” he said.
Camden County officials say that 66% of the county’s adult residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

“We’re at a point right now where everybody who wanted a shot, got a shot. So now just trying to get people to get vaccinated is more of a challenge right now,” says Camden County Commissioner Al Dyer.
The vaccine site at Camden County College will go down to operating just two days a week beginning next week. The county will also continue pop-up clinics throughout the county. Officials say that these pop-up clinics have been key to getting more people vaccinated.
“We’re taking a layer off where they don’t have to come here. We’re right in their communities and some people are coming right out of their house to the park or where we’re at, so that’s been tremendous,” Dyer says. “We’re at a point now where we’ve got to come to them and it’s been working.”
The county will continue to operate its Blackwood site on Wednesdays and Thursdays offering all three vaccines. Thursday was the first day they offered the Pfizer vaccine, which is approved for children ages 12 and up.
