Gov. Andrew Cuomo is expected to ease some COVID-19 restrictions in microcluster zones like Port Chester on Wednesday.

Angela Venegas, owner of Sempre Bella, is taking appointments as her Port Chester salon lies in a microcluster orange zone, where businesses were forced to shut down during the holidays.

Even though the salon is open, Venegas is applying for her second small business loan.

"I have three. It's myself and two other employees, and I have to call them in the morning to tell them don't come in today, go do what you got to do because there is nothing going on," she says.

Cuomo says he will ease some COVID-19 restrictions on microcluster zones to allow for economic activity, but business owners say serious damage is already done.

When News 12 checked in with restaurants in Port Chester, there were empty chairs, after indoor dining was allowed to reopen two weeks ago.

"I guess people still have to get used to Port Chester being fully opened slowly, but surely we will get there," says John Ruggiero, owner of T&J Pizza and Pasta.

The pies never stopped coming at T&J's restaurant and pizzeria, which did takeout and delivery during the nine weeks the village was shut down.

Ruggiero says he is hoping they do not have to close indoor dining again.

"Hopefully, better days are ahead of us," he says.
