Family, friends and fans in Canarsie honored late rapper and native Pop Smoke for the fourth year in a row at Canarsie Park Saturday.
The event held on what would have been his 25th birthday included rides, games, giveaways, food, and basketball.
The rapper was born and raised in Canarsie. He’s known for his two hit singles “Dior” and “Welcome to the Party” that came out in 2019.
He was shot and killed in 2020 during a home invasion in Hollywood Hills.
His mother Audrey Jackson says he always wanted to give back to his community.
“We need to get back to a sense of community," she said. “Where we’re accountable to each other, where we’re responsible for each other, and we’re taking caring of our children and our adults.”
