Distracted driving crashes continue to kill and injure thousands

A car was smashed in an apparent rear-ending crash in Crotona Park East.

Citizen app video shows a white Toyota RAV4 with significant damage, partially underneath the gray SUV in front of it.

The collision happened near East 174th Street and Boone Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Citizen app.

Police say the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad was initially called to the scene, but the call was later cancelled.

News 12 reached out to the FDNY and is awaiting additional information.
