Cardi B draws huge crowds to Bronx pop-up, but some fans leave disappointed

Bronx native and hip-hop legend Cardi B brought hundreds of fans to Highbridge for a one-day pop-up event promoting her new hair care line, Grow Good Beauty.
People lined up for hours outside the future Hip-Hop Museum, with some even camping out overnight.
Erika Ramirez-Calderon told News 12 she got there at 6 p.m. the night before. She was the first one in line.
Another fan named Irene said, “She’s a good rapper and I love who she is from the inside out.”
Cardi’s new brand is a hair care line inspired by her Dominican roots. Ramirez-Calderon said that the message resonated with her.
“As a Hispanic woman, we get a lot of lash on the textures of our hair, and a lot of people are not knowledgeable on the textures of our hair,” she said. “I love that she knows her hair texture. She’s supporting us together as a Latina woman and how to care for ourselves.”
But not everyone left happy. Some fans told News 12 they waited for hours expecting to shop for the products, only to learn the pop-up was mainly a photo opportunity and that no merchandise was being sold on site.
“I’m disappointed. I’ve been here since 8:17 in the morning,” one fan said.
Another person said, “That’s the misconception about the post, about everything. That’s why everybody is upset. Everybody is getting off the line. There’s no actual products being sold at this pop-up. I thought that was the whole point of the situation.”
While the presale is currently sold out, Cardi says the products officially launch on April 15. For many fans, the excitement of seeing her in her home borough was still worth it, but others said they wish they knew what to expect before spending hours on line.
