The football team won 40-22 and overcame obstacles including not being able to use their own home field all season.
The Cardinal Hayes team celebrated their historic championship on Thursday night and were joined by Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson. Gibson announced that Dec. 2 will now be recognized as Cardinal Hayes Day for the Bronx to commemorate the monumental victory.
The school does not have an update at this time on when they’ll get to get back to using their home field.
