The Castle Hill neighborhood is in an accessible location - it's just a stop off the 6 train.

Castle Hill Avenue has a little something for everyone, including more than 200 businesses that range from a sewing shop to a beauty salon to countless restaurants.

The Castle Hill Business Improvement District has officially been up and running for a year. The BID was formed in 2022 and named its first executive director, Sasha Ortiz, in July 2023.

"I saw the need here that the businesses needed, the cleanliness they needed, the safety that was needed, when we finally went into legislation it was a victory for all of us," said Ortiz.

Since stepping into her role, Oritz has made it a priority to beautify the neighborhood, improve safety, and sanitation, help businesses grow their social media and expand their access to resources, like small business grants.

Business Improvement Districts help drive businesses in their corridor by hosting community events, networking and advocating for capital improvements.

The Castle Hill BID is one of 12 business improvement districts in the Bronx.
