A man was beaten in a violent cellphone robbery in Fordham and the whole incident was caught on surveillance video.
The video shows the suspect repeatedly kicking and punching the 40-year-old victim outside his apartment complex near East 183rd Street and Morris Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 10.
Police say the victim was ambushed from behind and was thrown to the ground. At one point it seems the victim is not even moving as the suspect just keeps beating him. Minutes later the video shows the suspect digging through the resident’s pockets.
Police say he got away with a cellphone and keys before taking off. The victim says he does not know who the man is.
The suspect is described to be in his 20s, around 180 pounds and about 5 feet 10 inches with a goatee.
The victim was treated at the hospital for a laceration to his head and bruising on his face.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
