A tenant of the Sackwern Houses in Soundview says her ceiling caved in this past weekend, leaving a big hole where a small crack used to be.
Luanna Ward says the hole still has water dripping from it. She says she noticed the ceiling was about to cave in and immediately called NYCHA's emergency number several times. After receiving no response, she had to call the FDNY.
Ward says there are other water seepage problems in her apartment that need to be addressed. Other tenants say they have similar ceiling issues.
NYCHA said in a statement that the "staff determined the cause of the leak is from an air conditioner above her apartment." The agency says it will be making the necessary repairs.
