A new survey from the U.S. Census Bureau says the number of Hispanics in the Bronx is on the rise.The 2005 U.S. Census Bureau Community Survey says the Bronx is home to more than 684,000 Hispanics, making it the primary ethnic group in the borough. Between 2000 and 2005, the rate of Hispanics in the Bronx grew more than four percent, while the number of whites and blacks declined. Citywide, the survey says Puerto Ricans is the dominant Hispanic group with about 787,000, but that number dropped between 2004 and 2005. The number of Dominicans, Ecuadorians and Mexicans has been increasing. City College's Dominican Studies Institution predicts Dominicans will become the largest Hispanic group in the city by 2010.
