A Greenpoint school received a visit from New York City Schools Chancellor Meisha Ross Porter Thursday as she offered guidance for the upcoming school year.
Teachers have officially returned to John Ericsson Middle School in Brooklyn after many were remote last school year. They are getting a head start on the curriculum before students return for class on Sept. 13.
Porter served breakfast to teachers and acknowledged the possible difficulty of returning to the classroom for some teachers. Nonetheless, the chancellor says she’s looking forward to a prosperous school year.
John Ericsson Middle School Principal Maria Ortega tells News 12 she’s thrilled that Porter took the time to visit and offer guidance before students return.
Teachers were spending the day doing training, as well as setting up their classrooms to ensure student safety.
