And we are continuing to follow that devastating building collapse in Morris Heights. As Fdny officials are continuing to sift through all of that rubble with almost 200 people without a home. The American Red Cross in Greater New York is stepping in to help. Now, joining us this morning is External Affairs Officer for the Red Cross Desiree Ramos Reiner Desiree. Thank you so much for joining us this morning. Thank you so much for having me this morning. Now we know it was a very late night for uh this devastating incident that happened here in our borough. So what has the process been like to get these residents into suitable and stable housing for now? And we know it's not permanent. So yesterday, we were able to open a reception center alongside our city partners, including the Office of Emergency Management where we um hosted the families who had been displaced in order to provide them a meal and get them registered and help them start thinking about their next steps. And today at uh Brooklyn at sorry at Bronx Community College, we are going to open a new reception center as of 10 a.m. in order to have the families meet with our casework team and really start to think about what their next steps are gonna be as they're not going to be able to return to the building. And speaking of those next steps, how long are these families able to utilize the assistance you are offering at the Red Cross? So right now, we have uh placed the families in emergency lodging for about two nights and that gives the family some time uh to reach out to uh relatives or friends to find potentially a more permanent household situation. But also to meet with our casework team and to be connected with several city agencies and other partners that might be able to help them with their next step. But we are here uh to help them, they will continue to speak with our casework team as they move through their process. Of course, it's just a long process for a lot of these families who really lost everything. Um We know it's just been a few hours since the collapse happened. But are you expecting any additional residents to report to Bronx Community College who are impacted, who may be, are also displaced? So we um we do think we captured the majority of the households last night. But if there is anybody who was not able to connect with the Red Cross, we invite them to either call us at 877 Red Cross or to come today to Bronx Community Community College. Um in order to speak with a caseworker and really start to talk about what your next steps can be on the road to recovery. All right. And you said it's open up at 10 a.m. at Bronx Community College. Is it closing at any point if people need that time frame? So it'll be open today from uh 10 to about five. And then, uh people can always call our 800 number 877 Red Cross if they're in need of assistance and unable to make it there today. Ok. Again, so for folks who don't know, that's 10 a.m. at Bronx Community College until five today, Desiree Ramos Reiner from the Red Cross. No one was injured. This shocking collapse has left dozens of families without a home. Many of them receiving help right now from the Red Cross at a nearby school. Yeah. And many of those people, we are told that they are still struggling to figure out what their next moves are because we know that assistance from the Red Cross is short term news. Twelve's Faith. Graham is at M S3 90 with what those relief efforts look like faith. But can you tell us? Yeah, good morning and no one in Asia. Typically around this time in the day, many of these victims would be waking up with their families, getting ready for work or school, maybe even sharing breakfast. But unfortunately, this morning, that is not the case. Many of these victims instead are waking up here at M S3 90. This is where the Red Cross is assisting them so far this morning, they tell us they have registered 37 household that comes out to around 100 and 38 people who are now homeless. These relief efforts at the school are happening just down the road from the partial building collapse for many of these victims had their lives ripped out from beneath them. A place where miraculously, officials tell us no one was killed or found in the rubble. Many of the buildings 10 and spent the night here at the school where they are receiving help with food, clothing and relocation services. We have uh placed the families in emergency lodging for about two nights and that gives the family some time uh to reach out to uh relatives or friends to find potentially a more permanent household situation. But also to meet with our casework team and to be connected with several city agencies and other partners that might be able to help them with their next steps. Wait. And the Red Cross says that starting this morning through five o'clock tonight, they will instead be posted up at Bronx Community College. They are encouraging anybody in need of assistance to reach out to them if they have not done so already in Morris Heights. Faith Graham News 12.

Noel. Well, good morning. This, we're now seeing drones in the air and police are here on the ground blocking pretty much every street leading to the one where we're standing right now where you can see this eye opening damage. We're going to give you a closer look at what we're seeing right now. Multiple floors in this seven story building are completely gone while others are barely hanging. The only reminder that these used to be bedrooms are the actual beds that we can see left behind one on that very top floor while the other, it looks like a mattress, a few floors down. Thankfully, we're told this and the debris left on the ground this morning is the extent of the physical damage done here after this building. At 1915 buildings, terrace randomly collapsed out of nowhere yesterday afternoon all night. First responders were digging through the debris searching for anyone that may have been trapped underneath. Unfortunately, we're told they haven't found anyone. Now, we're told there is an active investigation to find out what exactly caused this building that's nearly 100 years old to crumble. We have seven open violations in this building, they seem to be related to the, to the facade that is not necessarily structural, but we're looking at that mortar that was deteriorating, cracked bricks. There is an active permit, a permit that's valid until next summer, work was being done on this building as recently as a few days ago. Now, when the FDNY clears the building and deems it to be safe for re entry, we're told that inspectors will be going inside to make further investigate and to find out exactly what happened here. And we're hoping, then we'll have more information and more answers for you guys as to what exactly did happen to cause this tragedy. That's the latest here in Morris Heights.
