A fire erupted in a Tremont apartment building Wednesday, sending 12 people to the hospital, according to the FDNY. One person is in critical condition.

Citizen video shows a small child being rescued through a window and onto scaffolding below.

The flames broke out at 2165 Ryer Ave. on the third floor around 4:08 p.m. Fire authorities on scene say firefighters responded four minutes later and rescued multiple people trapped inside the building.

After the fire, the American Red Cross has registered five households, including eight adults, two children, four dogs and one cat, for emergency assistance.
