A group of 37 New York City and New York state elected officials gathered Monday to call for justice and impartiality in the case of Allan Feliz.
News 12 reported that Feliz was shot and killed by an NYPD Sgt. Jonathan Rivera in Oct. 2019 after he was pulled over for a seatbelt violation. Officers ran his ID and saw multiple active warrants, causing the situation to take a turn for the worse and leading to Feliz being shot. His family says they left him to die.
In a letter to Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD commissioner Edward A. Caban, the group expressed concern that Rivera will not face consequences.
The four-year anniversary of this incident is on Oct. 17.
