Bodega owners citywide say their stores are being robbed daily, and a new fund from United Bodegas of America will help them.
Juan Valerio, owner of JJN Bodega in Claremont, says he placed over $1,000 in meat products in a locked outdoor freezer, which was emptied in a robbery.
It’s a story that United Bodegas of America says they’re all too familiar with, which is why they’ve created a $50,000 fund to help uninsured owners who are victims of theft with financial relief.
Valerio received the maximum $500 from the fund today for the robbery of meat products he recently dealt with after providing video evidence of the incident, which all are required to do to receive financial compensation.
