City Council addresses funds being used for migrant crisis response

There have been 213 emergency sites opened across the city with over 6,000 federal asylum applications processed.

The migrant crisis is continuing to take a toll on the city’s resources, and the City Council held a joint oversight meeting to address funds being allocated to respond to the crisis.  
Officials from the city’s Office of Asylum Seeker Operations say that the current state of emergency spending cannot continue long term, stating that the migrant population has doubled in the past six months, with the city spending over $2 billion through three fiscal years.
