The New York City Council on Thursday discussed limiting nonessential helicopters in the sky after multiple helicopter-related incidents recently.
Council members and advocates called for the passage of the Helicopter Oversight Act.
One part of the legislation would prohibit nonessential helicopter flights from city heliports unless they meet FAA noise standards.
Noises from helicopter flights have been associated with side effects such as high blood pressure.
