Nearly eight years after NYPD Detective Miosotis Familia was killed in the line of duty, her eldest daughter, Genesis, was finally granted access to her pension.

This comes after News 12 sat down with Genesis in April, amplifying her cries for justice.

City Council Majority Leader Amanda Farías is set to make the announcement Wednesday morning, ahead of the City Council's Stated Meeting at City Hall.

The city says the passage of the "Home Rule" marks a major step toward correcting a systemic failure, as well as honor the life and legacy of Familia.
