The city's Department of Sanitation expanded its new recycling program Tuesday to cover Riverdale and Fieldston.
Officials want residents to separate organic waste and use new brown bins to discard it.
Sanitation workers will unload the bins' contents at compost centers, where volunteers will use it to grow fresh food. Residents living outside of the program's neighborhoods can deliver material on their own.
Previously, the program had been available only in Throgs Neck, Country Club and Edgewater.
