City health department confirms 14 presumed cases of monkeypox in New York City
City
health officials have confirmed that 14 people have now tested positive for
orthopoxvirus in New York City, which is presumed to be monkeypox.
According
to the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, anyone can get and spread
monkeypox, but the current cases are primarily spreading among men who have sex
with men. This group is now at higher risk than others to contract monkeypox.
