The New York City Department of Health says one person is dead due to Legionnaires' disease.
The case was found in the Highbridge section of the Bronx.
Officials say the cases stem from a cluster detected earlier this month. Although the disease is not contagious and is treatable if detected early, immunocompromised adults may still be at risk when exposed.
The Health Department says it is actively investigating and sampling testing water from all cooling water systems in the area of the cluster.
