A city hearing will be held Monday to address ongoing tensions between the Taxi and Limousine Commission and for hire drivers.
The mounting tension between drivers and the TLC resulted in violence recently as drivers used a metal bat to shatter the car window of TLC officers.
The act of violence comes out of frustration with violations drivers say are excessive.
Livery drivers say they are being unfairly targeted by TLC officers.
The meeting will address issues of enforcement, entrapment and the excessive fines imposed by the TLC to the for hire vehicles industry especially in Bronx county and upper Manhattan, according to officials.
The emergency public hearing will be held at 10 a.m. in the City Hall chamber.
