The Office of Emergency Management has issued a code blue alert for New York City Friday due to the freezing temperatures.
Officials encourage anyone in need of refuge from the bitter cold to seek shelter at a drop-in warming center around the city. 
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Bronx County in effect from midnight tonight to 10 a.m. Saturday.
Temperatures are not expected to reach past 30 degrees Friday. 
Snow showers and a wintry mix are possible after midnight tonight.
