Mayor Eric Adams unveiled the master plan for the Science Park and Research Campus Kips Bay - a first-of-its-kind job and education hub.
The project is in partnership with the City University of New York. It is expected to provide internships and entry-level jobs for students.
The mayor says there will also be about 2 million square feet of space for Health + Hospitals preventative care programs, labs and office space for New Yorkers to start their own companies.
The project is expected to break ground in 2025 and will be completed by 2031.
The city says it will create more than 15,000 jobs and generate at least $42 billion for the economy.
