Shattered glass surrounded the building at 100 Asch Loop on Tuesday afternoon, a day after a fire ripped through two floors and left five people injured.
The fire affected two apartments on the 25th floor after flames broke out early Monday morning, March 2.
FDNY told News 12 the cause of the fire is still under investigation. All five people hurt are expected to be OK after suffering minor injuries.
“I feel sad. It’s my neighbor, it’s my friends — it’s like a family,” said Malik, a ninth‑floor resident.
The Department of Buildings told News 12 that heat from the flames melted the railings on the balconies of the impacted apartments.
Community members said the destructive aftermath caused elevator problems, with only one elevator working and creating long delays.
“I waited 20 minutes and nothing,” Malik said.
DOB also told News 12 it has not received any reports of damaged elevators. Partial vacate orders were issued for the tenants of the two affected apartments.
