College students to aid migrants in filing for asylum in New York

This initiative comes exactly a year after the first bus of migrants arrived in Manhattan.

College students from NYU, Columbia, and CUNY schools will assist migrants in filing for asylum to help clear the backlog in city immigration courts.
The students will earn college credit for their contributions.
This initiative comes exactly a year after the first bus of migrants arrived in Manhattan.
In this time, the city says they have assisted migrants in submitting 1,300 asylum applications.
