The city’s Districting Commission has released a preliminary plan outlining the redrawn lines that will go into effect for the City Council next year, if approved.

The plan attempts to represent the 8.8 million New Yorkers counted in the recent census.

The results are different depending on where you live. In the Bronx, lines roughly look the same, but have a few important changes.

"We were able to join Van Nest with Morris Park, we were able to join Westchester Square, which was completely divided in half, we were able to do Morrisania, so it was about five communities that were split between councils that we were able to join" says Lisa Sorin, president of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce.

Public hearings for residents to voice their opinion on the plan are being held in each of the five boroughs the week of Aug. 15 at 4:00p.m.
