A man has died after being assaulted by a group of men Saturday night, but one community activist says the attack may have been a case of "street justice."
Police say a 56-year-old man was beaten to death by five men around 9 p.m. Saturday night on Featherbed Lane. They say the victim has 35 prior arrests for acts including criminal mischief and burglary.
Authorities add that he has broken into cars and stolen whatever could be found inside.
Community activist Sidney Flores says his criminal reputation is what may have led to the beating, as locals had become fed up.
"Very rarely you hear of street justice happening to these people," says Flores. "And well may be one of those crimes of street justice."
Police say no arrests have been made in the case and an investigation is ongoing.
