While people all around the country are finding ways to pass on positivity during the pandemic, thousands are spreading love through lasagna.
Aliza Sperling says she came across the Lasagna Love Facebook page a month and a half ago. The page matches anyone who wants to try their hand at layering sauce, cheese and noodles with people who need food.
After the lasagnas come out of the oven, Sperling delivers them to her assigned families in the area.
Lasagna Love was founded at the start of the pandemic in southern California by Rhiannon Menn.
Menn says she started the page because not only is it easy to make with ingredients available during the pandemic, but that it's comfort food.
Madeline Young, 24, says that's what draw her to the page. She is a medical researcher who moved to New York in July and started in the Manhattan and Bronx chapter.
More than 4,000 volunteers across all 50 states have delivered almost 8,000 lasagnas.
