Dozens of community members held a rally on Cortelyou Road against a rezoning proposal for high-rise luxury apartments.

Community Board 14 passed the upzoning in the first part of the ULURP process.

Residents are concerned it will allow more luxury development and overburden the current infrastructure.

On top of that, retail would have to shut down for years to accommodate construction.

"Our neighborhood is already congested," says resident Estelle Tsantes. "You walk down Cortelyou Road, there are lots of people and the streets are full."

However, some approve of the project and say it is badly needed.

"This city is desperate for more places to live. We've got homeless people that need places to live, we have working people who need places to live," says resident Tom Gray.

News 12 reached out to the building owner but has not heard back.

A spokesperson for Borough President Eric Adams says he is reviewing the land use application and his charter-mandated recommendations will be submitted in the coming weeks.
