Commuters may be paying extra in MTA fares with potential raise
Metropolitan Transportation Authority board members are discussing a plan to raise fares to avoid a financial disaster caused by the pandemic.
The Office of New York State Comptroller says government funding is running out and ridership is in need of a boost. It's unclear how high fares would need to go to bridge the budget gap.
MTA officials will meet on Dec. 21 to vote on the fare hike.
