People who live in the West Farms section of the Bronx say their homes often lose power during the sweltering heat. Con Edison decided to help them beat the heat by handing out dry ice.
The utility company is reporting there were about 100 outages in this neighborhood on Tuesday night.
While the dry ice should provide some temporary relief, some locals say they have been without power since just before 11 p.m. on Monday night. They say Con Edison is not providing a timetable for it to be restored.
Several blocks are currently closed off as Con Edison tries to fix the problem. Officials plan to hand out the dry ice in the neighborhood until supplies run out.
