A convenience store has been completely destroyed by a fire that started in Concourse Village late Monday night.
Workers at 170 VIP Convenience said they were inside the shop around 10:40 p.m. when they heard a pop, and customers reported flames.
The blaze also impacted the connected Bravo Supermarket, which remained open for the day, while the convenience store was too damaged to welcome customers back.
Charred wood, shattered glass and debris covered the corner where the store once sat at 218 E. 170th St.
One employee told News 12 that they were unsure of the cause, but that they believed the fire to be related to a motor for the fridge on the second floor.
Neither FDNY nor the store staff reported any injuries.
