Coney Island businesses say they welcomed the crowds that stopped by the area to enjoy Fourth of July.
People gathered to eat, to enjoy rides, and to swim at the beach on Sunday.
One of the owners of Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park says they had a slow start with a gloomy Memorial Day weekend, but July Fourth was perfect for patrons and businesses in comparison.
The owner of Lola Star Gift Shop also says it was exciting to see Coney Island back in action. She says the holiday was the busiest day for her since the pandemic began.
Coney Island was so crowded Sunday evening that a few streets along Surf Avenue were closed off to cars to help mitigate some traffic.
