The roof of a Coney Island business came crashing down due to all of the heavy rain Ida brought to the Northeast.
The damage to the Midwood store is excessive with pieces of debris and the roof all over.
News 12 is told no one was present during the collapse.
FDNY Officials are on scene, along with the Office of Emergency Management.
The general manager of Sophie’s Bistro, Aron Josh, who works next door witnessed the damage himself.
“We actually thought about closing earlier because of the weather. It’s scary, we didn’t hear anything…it just collapsed,” says Josh.
Officials have turned off the gas and water in nearby businesses. Part of the sidewalk has also been closed.
Business owners say the area was hit badly and all basements are flooded.
