Senate confirmation hearings for Bronx native and Supreme Court Justice nominee Sonia Sotomayor begin Monday and GOP senators will likely grill Sotomayor on her past judicial rulings.

Sotomayor would be the first Hispanic woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court if she is confirmed. Sotomayor grew up in the Bronxdale Houses in Soundview and attended Cardinal Spellman High School.

Bronx residents say they are confident Sotomayor will impress opponents with her intellect and answers to their questions.
