The Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning parents in the city to remain cautious of children who may get burned while playing on hot playground equipment. 

The group says children can be burned by the hot surface of some playsets, which can reach nearly 100 degrees. 

Children 2 years old and younger are at the highest risk for being burned, according to experts, because their skin is thinner and more delicate.

They say younger children also do not react as fast from removing themselves from hot surfaces. 

News 12 Meteorologist Mike Favetta visited a playground outside of the Monroe Houses in the Bronx and used a thermal imagining camera to pick up heat. He saw pieces of playground equipment that were as hot as 150 degrees.
