Mayor Eric Adams attended a Memorial Day ceremony Monday at the Intrepid Museum on Manhattan's West Side.
Adams spoke to service members and discussed the importance of honoring veterans.
“Our young people don't know the rich history of the men and women who allow us to sit under the tree of freedom because they watered that tree with their blood. They don't know what it is to understand just how special this country is,” Adams said. “Yes, we have challenges. I like to believe that we are a symbol of what the Intrepid is to the entire fleet…Continue to forge ahead regardless of the difficulty of what our Navy and our five other armed forces represent. We too are that.”
