City correction officers are calling for action after one of their own was attacked by an inmate at Rikers Island.
In a video taken last month, an officer can be seen getting into a fight with an inmate. The two are seen throwing punches at each other. The officer suffered minor injuries.
The Department of Correction says the inmate was placed in restrictive housing after the fight.
The incident is under investigation.
The Correction Officers Benevolent Association is calling for more officers to be stationed at jails like Rikers Island.
A statement from the association reads, "This video and others like it are another reminder of why the officer to inmate ratio in the Department of Corrections needs to change."
