A new face is representing District 13 in the Bronx, but some constituents say they have yet to see her.

Council Member Shirley Aldebol, who defeated incumbent Kristy Marmorato in November by a slim margin, is now settling into her office on Williamsbridge Road. Before her City Council run, Aldebol spent nearly three decades leading one of the nation's largest property service workers unions.

In a sit-down interview with News 12, Aldebol said her priorities include affordability, public safety and quality-of-life issues.

"People want to be able to afford to live here. People want to have a good job so they can sustain their families. People want to live in a clean environment. They want their streets to be safe," Aldebol said.

News 12 has received calls from residents who say they've tried to contact her office and haven't heard back.

Aldebol responded to those claims, saying, "I am here for the community. I've been meeting with people throughout the district, with different civic organizations. I've gone to tenant meetings, and I will continue to do so."

Some people say they are looking for action.

"Find more work for the population. Because everybody don't have no job," said Remy Athacou, a Morris Park resident.

Aldebol says she is building a team that reflects the district's diversity and is asking residents for patience as she begins her first term.
