Throgs Neck residents were treated to a free summer concert Monday night at Veterans Memorial Park.
This year marked the first time Councilman Mark Gjonaj helped to organize the event for the community. He tells News 12 that former Sen. Jeff Klein used to hold summer concerts before Sen. Alessandra Biaggi ousted him for his seat in District 34.
Gjonaj says his office received phone calls from residents hoping that the summer concerts would continue after they heard there was a chance they could get canceled.
The Kingsbridge Riverdale Van Cortlandt Development Corporation and its cultural program, Brush the Bronx, helped the councilman organize the event.
Local band, FDR Drive, performed for Throgs Neck residents at the park.
Bronx Arts Ensemble will perform another summer concert at Loreto Park on Aug. 8.
