Councilman Rafael Salamanca Jr. partnered with Test & Trace Corps to open his office as a COVID-19 self-testing site.
Residents just need an email and a physician from Test & Trace Corps to walk them through the process.
The physician hands residents a test swab. Residents then place the swab into their nose and count to 10.
Salamanca says after seeing coronavirus cases rise in the Bronx, he knew he needed to find more ways to provide easy testing for the community.
"We wanted to ensure that people in our community are healthy and safe and have access to testing and the only way to do that is to open up as many sites as possible," Salamanca says. "And that's all we're doing here."
There are other self-testing sites that will be open for a limited time. Most of them are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The deputy director for Test & Trace outreach programs says they have been working around the clock to bring testing all across the city.
Salamanca says he is working on opening up his office once a week to give people access to self-testing.
