Relatives of a taxi driver who was attacked in the Bronx are calling for
the suspects to be found.
The driver, Carlos Infante, is recovering at Bronx Lebanon Hospital.
Police say Infante was attacked Thursday by a couple near Norwood who
robbed and beat him.
Infante’s family and colleagues don’t know if he will be able to drive a
taxi or see out of his left eye again.
Infante was left with a black eye and fractures near the eye.
Infante’s family say they are thankful he wasn’t killed.
The family stood outside the hospital earlier Sunday with the New York
State Federation of Taxi Drivers, pleading that those responsible be
brought to justice.
Infante’s sister says he was
the breadwinner of his family, driving his taxi for 24 years.
She and the family say they want to know why someone would commit the
attack.
"Aggression is not the way to manifest what you think. That's no
solution to anything, let alone when attacking someone innocent," says
Angel Infante, the victim's sister.
So far there are no leads or information on who the suspects are.
However, the federation says they are offering a reward of up to $3,000
for information that can trace who the attackers are.
