The mother accused of drowning her three children in Coney Island is set to appear in court soon.
Erin Merdy, 30, is facing multiple counts of murder for the deaths of her three children. From the time police found her children until her arraignment Friday, she was at NYU Langone Health in Brooklyn going through a psychiatric evaluation.
The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office says an assistant district attorney will announce that the grand jury has voted on an indictment before Wednesday, Sept. 21.
Merdy was not present in court today, and her appearance is not scheduled yet.
Three-month-old Oliver Bondarev, 4-year-old Liliana and 7-year-old Zachary Merdy were all found dead on a Coney Island beach Sept. 12. Surveillance video referenced in her criminal complaint shows Merdy walking on the beach toward the ocean with her three children around 1 a.m.
About two hours later, Merdy was seen by herself barefoot and wet walking down the boardwalk. At around 4 a.m., police found all three children dead on the beach.
According to the criminal complaint, Merdy also admitted that she hurt her kids and that they were gone.
