The CDC has flagged multiple counties in the state as hotspots compared to the rest of the country, so what are those numbers looking like in New York City?

City Island is just one of the neighborhoods in the boroughs where COVID-19 cases are on the rise. The CDC says that community levels of COVID in the state are the highest in upstate New York. However, the numbers in counties surrounding the city like Westchester County and Nassau County are starting to creep back up too.

As of now, they’re at a medium level. Current CDC data shows the percent of people testing positive for COVID is still growing.

Some of the neighborhoods in the boroughs with the highest seven-day positivity rate are Greenpoint, Red Hook, Williamsburg, Pelham Bay, Riverdale and City Island.

These numbers all come as Dr. Anthony Fauci clarified on Friday that the pandemic is "by no means over" and that we are "still experiencing a global pandemic."

Experts also say that numbers could be higher than we know because more people are taking at-home tests. However, despite the recent increase, neither the Bronx nor Brooklyn have the most total new cases over the last week out of all the five boroughs.
