Police: Man arrested for DWI following two-car crash on LIE

The expressway was closed at exit 57 between Vets Highway and Old Nicolls Road.

Police say a man has been arrested for DWI following a two-car crash that seriously injured another man and himself in Hauppauge this morning.
Police say the vehicles were driving westbound on the Long Island Expressway near exit 57, when the vehicles crashed at 2:04 a.m.
One car overturned on the roadway, and a truck traveled over a guardrail and ended up in an embankment before coming to a stop on the shoulder.
James Todarello, 72, of Coram, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Nolan Grant, 57, of Medford, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. Grant was charged with DWI. He is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.
The expressway was closed for four hours at exit 57 between Vets Highway and Old Nicolls Road. Residual delays are being reported.
